Capé d’une expérience d’environ 25 ans au sein de l’organisation, le Beninois Gilles Fagninou est désormais le Directeur régional du fonds des nations unies pour l’enfance (UNICEF) de l’Afrique de l’ouest et de l’Afrique Centrale. L’annonce a été faite par les autorités Beninoises via la page Facebook du ministère des affaires étrangères ce vendredi 10 février 2024.
‘’Le Bénin est fier de son fils Gilles Fagninou et compte sur son dévouement ainsi que sur son impact continu pour assurer le bien-être et le développement des enfants dans notre région’’, se réjouissent les autorités du Benin.
En effet, le Beninois aura pour mission de gérer un ensemble de 24 bureaux du fonds des nations unies pour l’enfance dans les régions de l’Afrique de l’ouest et Centrale. Un exercice qui ne sera pas la mer à boire pour Gilles Fagninou, d’autant plus qu’il a déjà accumulé plusieurs expériences dans divers rôles au sein de l’organisation avant sa nomination.
Faut-il le rappeler, l’Unicef fondé en 1946 intervient dans environ 190 pays et territoire dans le monde entier. Pour être plus clair, l’Unicef est une Organisation des Nations unies qui a pour objectif l’amélioration et à la promotion des conditions des enfants dans le monde entier.
