Report des élections au Sénégal: La CEDEAO demande en toute urgence le rétablissement du calendrier électoral selon la Constitution

Les pays de la Communauté économique des Etats de l’Afrique de I’Ouest (CEDEAO) viennent de prendre le contre pied de leur homologue du Sénégal. Alors que les députés de Macky ont officiellement adopté le report des élections présidentielles pour le 15 décembre 2024, la CEDEAO voit d’un autre œil ce geste qui selon elle ne contribue pas à la stabilité politique de la sous région particulièrement mouvementée ces derniers temps.

Réunis à Abuja dans la capitale nigériane ce mardi 06 février 2024, les membres de la commission de l’institution sous régionale ont fait injonction au régime de Dakar de revoir sa copie.

COMMUNIQUÉ N°. 2

La Commission de la Communauté économique des Etats de l’Afrique de I’Ouest suit avec préoccupation l’évolution de la situation au Sénégal. Elle déconseille toute action ou déclaration qui pourrait aller à l’encontre des dispositions de la Constitution du pays et rappelle à la population et à la classe politique leur responsabilité dans le maintien de la paix et de la stabilité dans le pays.

La Commission de la CEDEAO encourage la classe politique à prendre de toute urgence les mesures nécessaires pour rétablir le calendrier électoral conformément aux dispositions de la Constitution du Sénégal. En ces temps difficiles pour le pays et la région, la Commission lance un appel à toutes les parties prenantes pour qu’elles renoncent à la violence et à toute action susceptible de troubler davantage la paix et la stabilité du pays. Elle exhorte les forces de l’ordre à faire preuve de la plus grande retenue et à protéger les droits fondamentaux de tous les citoyens.
La Commission de la CEDEAO restera attentive aux événements et prendra toutes les mesures nécessaires pour accompagner le gouvernment et le peuple sénégalais à maintenir la tradition démocratique du Sénégal.
